Touch the globe glass. What do you see? In the center of the globe glass which is filled with varies gases (there is a high potency) sphere and this serves as electrode. In fact we build a transformator by letting flow an alternative current through a mixture of argon, neon and krypton gases with a low pressure. Because of the electric area formed by the high potential, the gases burns in to plasma through ionization. Because glass is nonconductive plasma threads end up on the surface of the glass. When you touch the sphere, you effect the electric field of the sphere and act like a lightning conductor.

If you hold a fluorescent lamp close to the plasma, induction cause the oppositive signed charge move and also causes the lamp in the fluorescent to radiate.
